PGA West Nicklaus Private is considered one of the top 100 golf courses in the world, known for taking the golfer from a peaceful tranquility to an experience of challenging tribulations. This course is 6,951 yards long and has the highest stroke and slope ratings of the three PGA West private courses.
Participants of the Humana Challenge, formerly the Bob Hope Classic, favor the Nicklaus Private course because of its sunken fairways, elevated trees, blind shots and shaped greens. It’s a major challenge for the best of players. Golf Magazine ranked this course as one of the best. PGA West Nicklaus Private has an interesting history: it was built to host the Ryder Cup in 1987. But the tournament transferred to the east coast to attract more of a television audience. All ends well though, as its members now enjoy complete exclusivity of the course.
PGA West Nicklaus Private is one of the three private courses out of six all together at PGA West. This resort, with its 2,000 acres of landscapes and golf is a popular place in the Palm Springs area. There are 109 holes of championship golf as well as gourmet dining, a private fitness center, and 10 tennis courts.
And not only members have access to the courses and clubhouse. PGA West welcomes residents of La Quinta and California as well as guests at La Quinta Resort & Club. There are opportunities to play at the Jack Nicklaus Tournament and TPC Stadium golf courses; or enjoy Monday Night Football at Ernie’s. And the Golf Academy is open to the public.
PGA West started building its homes in 1984 and has been building for years. There are over 3,000 homes and condominiums in this development. These home sites often feature serene mountain views and tranquility.
